A point-and-shoot camera or compact camera. It is a still camera designed for simple operation. These cameras use focus free lenses or autofocus for focusing. They use automatic systems for setting the exposure options. These cameras have flash units built in.
Point-and-shoots are the best selling cameras. They are as popular as camera phones. They are popular with people who don't consider themselves photographers but want an easy to use camera. They can use these cameras for vacations, parties, reunions and other events.Compact cameras are designed to be tiny and portable.

They are particularly suitable for casual and snapshot uses. The smallest, are generally less than 20 mm thick. They are described as subcompacts or "ultra-compacts" and some are nearly credit card size.

These cameras incorporate a retractable lens assembly. This allows a thin camera to have a moderately long focal length. These cameras fully exploit an image sensor larger than the one on a camera phone. They have a mechanized lens cap to cover the lens when retracted. The retracted and capped lens is protected from keys, coins and other hard objects. Making it a thin, pocketable package. Subcompacts commonly have one lug and a short wrist strap which aids extraction from a pocket. Thicker compacts may have two lugs for attaching a neck strap.

Compact cameras are usually designed to be easy to use. They sacrifice many features and picture quality for compactness and simplicity. Images can usually only be stored using lossy compression (JPEG). Most have a built-in flash usually of low power, sufficient for nearby subjects. Live preview is almost always used to frame the photo. Most have limited motion picture capability. Compacts often have macro capability and zoom lenses but the zoom range is usually less than for bridge and DSLR cameras. Generally a contrast-detect autofocus system, using the image data from the live preview feed of the main imager, focuses the lens.

These cameras incorporate a nearly silent leaf shutter into their lenses. For lower cost and smaller size, these cameras typically use image sensors with a diagonal of approximately 6 mm. This corresponds to a crop factor around 6. This gives them weaker low-light performance. These cameras have a greater depth of field, generally closer focusing ability, and smaller components than cameras using larger sensors.

Starting in 2011, some compact digital cameras can take 3D still photos. These 3D compact stereo cameras can capture 3D panoramic photos for play back on a 3D TV. Some of these are rugged and waterproof, and some have GPS, compass, barometer and altimeter.

Small Stereo Buyers Guide

Frey Scientific Compact Fixed Magnification Stereo Microscope

By Grant Strawling
In recent years, there has been a growing demand for small sized electronics. Small phones, small gaming systems, small everything! Well, the same goes with the small stereo. Up until recently, many homes have boasted a massive home entertainment system with full surround sound and cabling that costs more than all of the furniture in the room combined! One major problem with these systems is that they end up being rather stationary. If you want to reorganize your room and move, let's say, the couch, t.v., or the stereo, you're out of luck. The solution is to get a small stereo. Today's options provide amazing sound quality and volume, while having a sleek and small design.

Benefits Of A Small Stereo:
Obviously the main benefit of a small stereo is the minimal size. You have far more flexibility with regards to where to put the stereo and you can always move it easily if desired. Often, in many kitchens, full sized systems just don't fit well. With the amount of time people tend to spend in kitchens cooking, it's nice to be able to have a small stereo sitting on a counter, while still being out of the way. Other places you can use a small stereo include a cabin or a cottage, camping, or a garage.

Features To Look For:
You'll want to look for the following types of features when looking for a small stereo: mp3 player or iPod support, wall mount capability, clock and time display and alarm features, remote control, the ability to run on batteries (especially if using it as an alarm clock, in case the power goes out), and a style that you like!

Typical Prices:
Small or compact stereos can range typically from around $100 and up. If you want to get a high end compact stereo you could easily be looking at hundreds of dollars more than that. I would highly recommend searching for and purchasing a small stereo online; this gives you the best likelihood of finding the lowest prices. With the small size, shipping usually isn't a big deal.

The Panasonic SC-HC30 Compact Stereo System and Everything You Need to Know About It

Panasonic SC-HC55 Compact Stereo System

By Jacob Akshire
Compact is what every person now wants in all the devices that he buys. No bulky appliances - that's the trend. Unless it's a 41'' LCD TV that you're getting, you better get it small. But the quality can't be compromised by the small size, like the Panasonic SC-HC30 Compact Stereo System which is small but definitely terrible, in a good way. I'd like to share with you everything there is to know about this model.
Design
It's compact as it is, and it's extremely thin. This makes it easy to make room for it when you come home with this thing in your arms. With the dimensions of 4'' x 19.6'' x 7.9'' inches and a mere weight of 6.2 pounds, you can easily bring this anywhere you go, and transfer it to any room in the house anytime you want. It's also very nice to look at because of its stylish design. It has a motorized sliding door which keeps the iPod dock and LCD out of view, and when it opens up, you just have to admire the mechanism.
It's easy to make space for this device and it's also easy to keep it in place, just as long as the front part remains open so whenever you have to dock or undock your iPod or iPhone and load or unload your CD, you don't have to move the device over and over again.
Video
The fluorescent display makes it easy to see the necessary information regarding the song being played, the track number on the CD, the length of song, the name of artist, the album name, and other basic info. The display also dims when it's not in use, and the auto power off function turns off the device after a while of being unused.
Audio
The speakers of this device are dual passive radiators which make use of advanced bamboo cones which make vocals very clear and pure, and dialogs easier to understand and crisper in sound. Each speaker has 20W output power, creating 40W of total output power that makes good quality and very audible sound. It has preset equalizers for better sounding and you have the option of choosing from heavy, clear, soft, vocal, and flat equalizer modes.
The radio tuner is digital and it can save up to 30 FM and 15 AM stations as preset. This makes it easy for auto tuning where you simply have to scan your preset stations and choose your favorite one or the clearest frequency.
The CD player supports formatted discs that are CD, CD-R, and CD-RW, and music file types which are MP3 and WMA. You can also play your iTunes from your iPod when it's docked. It also has bass and treble sound controls for a better sound output, and it has a surround sound function that makes sound even more resonant inside the room or home.
Other Features
The model is wall mountable and you can easily set up screws for it to hang onto so you wouldn't have a hard time clearing up space for this new machine. When you dock you iPod or iPhone in it, it automatically charges so no matter how long you play that device, you don't have to worry about power shortage or empty batteries. You can also use the special timer to set schedules for sleep and play times, which can be permanent or daily, depending on your preferences.
The remote control makes it extremely easy to navigate through the device even at a distance. No need to stand up and press different buttons just to get what you want. You also have the choice of playing music from an external audio source which can be connected through the AUX jack.
Conclusion
I am a very happy owner of this very compact and affordable yet very powerful music maker. And because I love it, I thought you might love it as well and shared with you all the great functions of this machine. The Panasonic SC-HC30 Compact Stereo System is an excellent addition to the home entertainment system, and I wouldn't mind giving my mom one of these because of its low price. You never know, you might want to get one too.
I have even more reviews and information about Mini CD Player at my website. I will also let you in on a little secret: Where to get them cheaper than anyplace else on the web;) Many thanks for reading, and good luck!

Apple In-Ear Headphones Review

Apple Iphone Headset Stereo with Micro and volume

Apple In-Ear Headphones Review

By Marko Hamilton

The Apple In-Ear Headphones with Remote and Mic are a wonderful set of higher end canalphones. They go inside your ear like other higher quality devices do, and they are claimed to be one of the cheapest and best options for this level of audio performance. I bought a set of Apple In Ears a few weeks ago, and I've been living with them and using them every day now. Here's my Apple In-Ear Headphones review.
Design
The quality of the design of these is un-passed. It's typical Apple - white and simple. There is no Apple logo on these however they scream Apple loud and clear, that's for certain. They seem well made, however like me you might want to wrap a little bit of (white) electrical tape around the plug. It isn't reinforced like pretty much every other set of headphones out there and I believe this is the bit that will break first. They are very minimal in your ears and look great. The earbuds themselves feel very high quality.

Remote
There is a small remote and mic on the right cord for the right earbud. Hence the name of the product 'Apple In-Ear Headphones with Remote and Mic'. The remote is simple to use and includes three switches, two volume buttons, and a center button for answering phone calls, pausing songs as well as going forward and back in your playlists. The issue I have is that none of my devices are compatible with it. Thankfully I have given it a go with a friend's and it work fine. I particularly like the sound that the mic can do - very nice however talking on a phone with canalphones is an odd experience - your voice sounds very loud.

Sound
This is the reason that people buy these things and I'm happy to say that the Apple In-Ear Headphones produce a very nice sound. The sound is very clear and defined - you can almost walk into the instrumentation and selectively listen to each instrument in turn. You will find that the sound these things make is very good considering their low price. If however you like your bass loud and pumping (unnatural bass, you use 'bass xpanders' etc) then don't get the Apple In-Ears. The bass is there and very nicely defined - it doesn't distort and again it is very crisp. However some complain of a lack of bass, so again it's up to your preference.
I like the bass the Apple In-Ears put out, however even for me, it took a little bit of getting used to.
In short, the Apple In-Ear Headphones are great step up from the stock headphones that come with iDevices. While they won't suit everyone, I love them and they are extremely good value for their price.

Please take a look at my full Apple In Ear Headphones Review  for more information and some tips for using them. I have also written another full article on the bass performance of the Apple In Ears, please look here>>>  Apple Earphonesfor details.

Apple iPhone 3GS Vs Nokia N97 - The Incomparable Handsets

By Simon R Wright

Online shoppers today are faced with a staggering variety of cable choices when trying to connect their PC to their TV. They may wonder which cables give them the best sound and picture quality, and may also want to know the various options they have to connect their TV and PC together. High Definition Multimedia Interface leads are by far the most common cable of choice in demand at present, but products such as the Toshiba Satellite L300 have a VGA 15 Pin D-Sub socket, and so a different cable type would be needed.

Connect PC to TV using the latest wireless technology
If your Desktop, Laptop, Tablet PC or Smartphone, has a USB port or 'socket', there is a multitude of devices available online which will allow you to stream both sound and video content wirelessly from your PC, provided that your Television has a HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) input. Fortunately, nearly all High Definition (HD) TVs on sale in 2012 are retro fitted with a HDMI input, and every new 3D TV is equipped with a HDMI input.

Connect mini USB and micro USB PC to TV wirelessly
Some Laptops, Desktops, Tablet PCs and even Smartphones have mini USB or micro USB ports, and so to stream audio and visual content wirelessly from one of these devices, you would need a micro USB to USB (Type A) converter, or mini USB to USB (Type A) converter to use a Wireless PC to TV streamer.

Connect Apple iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch to HDMI High Definition Television screen
If you want to connect your Apple multimedia device to your TV monitor, you can do this by using an Apple 30-Pin Dock connector to HDMI (Type A) converter along with with a HDMI (Type A) 1.4 lead. This combination of adapter and cable is also compatible with the iPhone 3, 3G, 4, 4S and iPod touch.

The wide availability of product choice can only be seen as a positive thing for the consumer. Due to high competition, consumers have the power to demand ever-increasing levels of durability and transmission quality, at prices as low as 46p for a HDMI cable (the cheapest HDMI cable we have ever come across). It would be best to recommend any form of HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) 1.4 cable from a trusted online retailer.

Are expensive HDMI cables better than cheap ones?
If you have just spent your hard-earned cash on a 42" High Definition TV, you may think that spending loads on a "top-of-the-range" HDMI cable will ensure better image quality, but it is widely regarded that around 9.99 is a sensible amount to spend on a HDMI cable (to strike a good compromise between value and quality), unless you require a cable of more than 3 metres. Longer HDMI cables tend to cost more than 10, but are surely a cost-effective alternative to connecting PC to TV wirelessly.

If you don't know your PC or TV connection type, use an online configurator to search for a PC and TV connection by Make and Model. If you don't know the Make and Model of the PC and TV you want to connect, you can also search by cable connection type. - Connect PC to TV

If your laptop lacks a HDMI input, but has a VGA input, you have two options:
Option one: Buy a VGA (Male) to VGA (Male) cable, a VGA to HDMI adapter set, a HDMI (Male) to HDMI (Male) cable, and a 3.5mm Mini Jack to RCA cable
Option two: If your PC also has a USB socket, use that instead and buy a Wireless PC to TV streaming kit
Option one will cost you nearly the same as the wireless PC to TV streamer, because the VGA to HDMI converter box will set you back at least 39.99.
Most wireless Computer to Television streaming kits are designed to work from a distance of up to 30 feet, so if you are planning to connect PC to TV wirelessly from a large distance, you should use a high quality HDMI cable, VGA cable and HDMI to VGA adapter, along with a 3.5mm Mini Jack to RCA lead.

You will need a 3.5mm Mini Jack to RCA cable when connecting using VGA because VGA does not carry audio signal. VGA cables must be used in conjunction with a 3.5mm Mini Jack to RCA cable when connecting Computer to Television.

How to connect Apple Mac or MacBook to HD TV
If you have a recent Apple MacBook or Mac Desktop, you are likely to have either a Mini DisplayPort input or Apple Thunderbolt input. Most new Mini DisplayPort adapters and cables are compatible with Apple Thunderbolt for connecting Computer to Television, so if you are planning to connect your Mini Displayport or Thunderbolt equipped Apple multimedia interface to your 27" Apple LED screen, you can use a Thunderbolt cable. Like HDMI cables, Thunderbolt also carries audio signal.

If you want to connect your Apple Thunderbolt or Mini DisplayPort (input) Computer, Desktop, Laptop, Netbook or Tablet to your HDMI High Definition Television, you can use a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI converter, or Apple Thunderbolt to HDMI converter.

Some new televisions come equipped with a DVI port (either a DVI-Integrated, DVI-Analogue, or DVI-Digital). DVI cables do not carry audio signal, so need to be used in conjunction with a 3.5mm Mini Jack to RCA cable.

iHome Charging Dock: Charge Your World Review

Sync & Charge USB Cable for Apple iPhone 4 (Hot Pink)

By Charlie Breans
The iHome iB969 is advertised as a multifaceted charging station for iPads, iPhones, iPods, and many other USB devices. Aside from simply charging them, the iHome organizes them in a compact space. It can even sync an iPhone as it charges if you connect the iHome to your computer. Let's take a closer look.
Inside the iHome box:

iHome charging station
AC power adapter
12" mini USB cable
12" USB to 4mm plug (for Sony readers)
36" sync cable
Mini USB to micro USB adapter
2 inserts for iPhones
The iHome is a black and gunmetal-colored plastic station that features a rubber insert on the tray in front of the iPod docks. It is 9" wide by 1.9" tall by 6.75" deep. A tray slides open to hold larger devices, deepening the device another 2.15".

Setting up the iHome is a simple process. Connect the AC adapter to it and plug it into a wall socket. Syncing devices between the iHome and your computer requires the 36" sync cable to be connected to both. Located between the two iPhone 4 docks is a blue LED that indicates the iHome is powered on.
On the bottom are two USB ports with cord wraps. Each of these ports features an A/B switch to change its functions. The A position turns the left USB port into an iPad 2 quick charger. The B position is designated for Sony, Kindle, Nook, and other ebook readers. The right USB port functions as a charger for non-Apple devices that charge with a USB cable.

The iPhone docks on the iHome also feature different capabilities. The left dock is a standard charging dock that allows for syncing. The left dock is for quick charging and doesn't sync. Both docks can be used at the same time.

The back of the iHome charging station has a stand to hold an iPad 2 while it is charging. It will even hold your iPad 2 with a protective case! The iHome doesn't come with an Apple cable, so you will have to supply your own.

The iHome is a neat charging station for your iOS devices. It can power up to four devices at once while only using one wall outlet. Since more devices are switching to the micro USB cable, the iHome comes with a mini-to-micro adapter to charge them as well. Overall, this is a great device for Apple fans who own multiple devices.

The iHome iB969 charging station is the best charging station for multiple Apple devices! Check out the largest online selection of iPhone chargers at GleeMobile.com!

Different Amazon vendors give different cables! Cellular 5 Star gave best. Importer520 cables were okay. Item44less were worst

USB Sync and Charging Cable Compatible with Apple iPhone (White)

By E. Kim

I compared the cable I received with my original iPhone 4 and 3 cables. I cannot tell any differences other than a slightly different feel of the rubber/plastic material along the cable length, which by the way also differs between my genuine Apple iphone 4 and 3 cables. Another reviewer posted pictures on Amazon in which the cable in question appeared to have a slightly wider or larger connectors, but mine are identical in size, and appearance.

I am very happy with this purchase and will purchase several more.

ADDENDUM April 20, 2011

After my initial great experience with the cable (that I ordered from Amazon's merchant Cellular 5 Star), I ordered 3 more cables, and did not realize that the "default" merchant had changed to Importer520. I just received these 3 cables and they look similar to genuine Apple cables at quick glance, but on closer inspection, they all had surface blemishes and slight irregularities. They also had a suspicious looking "Designed by Apple in California Assembled in China" stamped on the cable length.

The cable from Cellular 5 Star was of very good quality that I could NOT distinguish from genuine Apple cables, but the ones from Importer520 are slightly inferior. The feel of the cable length material is good though, in that it is supple. It will coil and uncoil without keeping the bent shape.

I have contacted Importer520 to see if I can get a refund, but their stated return policy states that they will not refund shipping costs, which when I ordered was almost all the purchase price.

ADDENDUM June 16, 2011

I purchased another "OEM" cable, this time from Item44Less and this cable is the worst of the bunch. The length of the cable is made out of a rigid plastic that does not bend like the more supple rubber-like material of the genuine Apple cables or even from Cellular 5 Star or Importer520.

ADDENDUM September 2, 2011

I purchased another "OEM" cable, this time from C and J Accessories, which actually qualifies for Amazon Prime since their order fulfillment is through Amazon. This cable is clearly not authentic with the end that connects to the iPhone being larger by about 0.5 mm width and length. The other Amazon merchants cables were identical to design, but differed in quality. This cable actually differs in its design with its wider and thicker connector end. The length of the cable is also more plastic than a flexible rubber, compared to authentic Apple cables. I would say this is almost as bad as Item44Less.

ADDENDUM September 19, 2011

I purchased a cable from Niceeshop and it looks genuine except that the cable length material is not as supple as the genuine Apple cables. The cable length material is not as rigid as the Item44Less cable, but more inflexible (retaining bends) than the Importer520 cables.

SUMMARY (Ranked in order of similarity to an authentic Apple cable)

1. Cellular 5 Star cables are the best and indistinguishable from my genuine Apple iPhone cables.

2. Importer520 is acceptable, but slightly inferior to Cellular 5 Star with some cosmetic blemishes. The cable length is made out of a high quality material.
3. Niceeshop is acceptable, but the cable length is not as supple as the Cellular 5 Star or Importer520.
4. C and J Accessories, although it qualifies for Amazon Prime, has its iPhone connector end as larger than the authentic one with a cheaper cable length material.
5. I would avoid Item44Less because of the rigid plastic cable material that does not bend and keeps the angular bent formation from its coiled position during shipping. The cable length material is the lowest quality (i.e. most plastic like) compared to the above four competitors.
